We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have appointed Guy James as our new Musical Director.

Guy has been a wonderful player in the band for 10 years and, as well as an integral part of the bass section, has been involved with the training band and has been our assistant MD for several years, taking the band at rehearsal and concerts when our regular MD has been unavailable.

Guy knows the band well, and we are very much looking forward to the future, starting with the summer of community engagements we have ahead.

“I’ve been playing Eb Bass, and occasionally euphonium, with Witney Town Band since 2012, and have been deputy conductor for the past six years. 

I have been MD of Yarnton Band since 1997 and intend to continue in that post.  Prior to that I was with the City of Oxford Silver Band, playing baritone and euphonium between 1977 and 1987, and leading their training band from 1980 to 1997. 



I also lead a choir in Witney.  I have enjoyed seeing Witney Town Band grow both numerically and musically over the past ten years and look forward to continuing that progression with a talented and enthusiastic group of players.”
