Following the press release by WFEL Fairey Band the Bandsman contacted Adam Cooke and asked for his comment, Adam said ‘It is with great disappointment that myself and the band’s management are on different pages surrounding the direction of Faireys. We find ourselves at odds around how success is ultimately measured in the current climate, and particularly at this point in the band’s history.

We had made a determined effort to rebuild from an almost standing start. That process has been made more challenging by taking on the role of MD during a pandemic, but we have attempted to find some much needed longer-term stability and consistency in the relatively short time we’ve returned to a sense of normality. Embedding the right culture and achieving long term success in any organisation takes time, and for all parties involved to pull in the same direction. It’s unfortunate that on this occasion we haven’t been able to get there. I wish the band and its players well for the future.’
