BBandsman Info

Since taking on the Website and social media of The British Bandsman I have been overwhelmed by the support and good wishes I have received from across the globe. I am still pinching myself that I am looking after such a prestigious name in the world of brass bands.

The Bandsman has gone from being a full time job with an editor and admin staff to being run by me, so I cannot at this stage in the process expect to be travelling around the world to report on all the latest happenings in the banding world, but I will work as hard as I can to bring everyone banding news and I will attend as many events as I can and report on what I see and hear.

I see the Bandsman as the voice of the banding world, I want anyone with news or views to get in touch, if there is something that is important to you and you want to submit an article then I will be glad to receive it.

I need to get advertisers to help pay for the annual costs of running everything, I will be contacting banding businesses to see if I can offer them an advertising opportunity, getting the adverts on the website will hopefully help both the advertisers and the Bandsman as any money will be invested in doing more for the banding community.

If you want to get in touch then info@britishbandsman.com is the best way.

For those that don't know who I am, I am Rob Tompkins, EEb Bass player with Wantage Concert Brass and MD at Abbey Brass (Abingdon), my other banding projects includes BrassFestUK which was my way of giving back to banding after 40 years of banding.

This is one thing that I am passionate about, giving back to banding is a key to it's survival and progression, someone who is in banding, is taught how to play and is given so much by banding can give back in so many ways. BrassFestUK was the project that I started and now the Bandsman.

I am excited about this new project and look forward to working for and with bands people across the world in making this work.
