Largest line up ever for Dutch Open Brass Band Championships 2023
On Saturday 10 June 2023 concerthall De Oosterpoort in Groningen will host twenty
competing brass bands for the Dutch Open Brass Band Championships (DOBC). Registration for
the 2023 championship closed on December 1. Twenty-five bands have registered, a record
number for the DOBC. Due to the many registrations, not all bands could be placed. With a
tight schedule, twenty brass bands can participate in the Oosterpoort in Groningen.
In recent years interest in the event has increased enormously. The DOBC was organized for the
first time in the Oosterpoort in Groningen in 2022: a great success. The unique concept of the
DOBC in combination with Groningen as a vibrant city with plenty of hotels, restaurants and
pubs within walking distance makes the DOBC a popular event. It has a great appeal to bands
from the Netherlands and abroad. In 2023 the participants come from the Netherlands, Belgium,
Germany and Switzerland.
Dutch Open Brass Band Championships is part of the music festival Groningen Brass Experience .
which will be held from Thursday 8 till Sunday 11 June 2023. More information about the DOBC
