Brassweek Samedan with international tutors
Guillaume Jehl, David Bruchez-Lalli, Alessandro Fossi and Henrique Dos Santos Costa are the four new tutors that Brassweek Samedan has been able to engage for this year's edition from 2 to 8 July 2023. As part of the master class, they will teach music students and ambitious amateur musicians together with other international tutors from the brass scene. The deadline for registration is on 30th April 2023.
Music students like to use this week for final preparations before important exams, entrance exams, competitions or concerts, ambitious amateurs enjoy the professional atmosphere to improve.
Practice takes place in individual and ensemble lessons. However, not only behind closed doors, but also in numerous places indoor and outdoor as part of organized or spontaneous concerts.
International tutors of the brass scene
The eleventh edition of the master class features several new tutors. For trumpets, for example, Guillaume Jehl, principal trumpeter of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He will teach the trumpet students together with Benny Brown, Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk, Prof. Frits Damrow, Prof. Wolfgang Guggenberger, Jennifer Tauder-Amann, Prof. Laura Vukobratovic and Anton Ludwig Wilhalm.
The horns are received by Prof. Christian-Friedrich Dallmann and Prof. Přemysl Voita. Prof. Fabrice Millischer, Prof. Edgar Manyak and, for the first time, Prof. David Bruchez-Lalli will attend as trombone tutors.
Prof. Thomas Rüedi and Dr. David Thornton will be the euphonium teachers and the tuba players will be taught by Les Neish, Henrique Dos Santos Costa and Alessandro Fossi.
Daily concerts by participants, tutors and guests
Brassweek will open on Sunday, 2nd July with a concert by students of the Zurich University of the Arts under the direction of Professor David Bruchez-Lalli, who will perform alongside Frits Damrow and Henrique Dos Santos Costa as a soloist.
On Tuesday evening, Fabrice Millischer (Trombone) and Přemysl Voita (Horn) will perform in the church. Afterwards, at 22.23 h the Jazznight will take place again with the well known trumpeter Benny Brown and band.
On Wednesday, the recently founded Besson Brass Quintet from England will be a guest at the Hotel Bernina. On Thursday evening, 6th July, the Swiss Army Brass Brand with the soloists Owen Farr (Tenorhorn), Thomas Rüedi (Euphonium) and Les Neish (Tuba) will set the mood and Southbrass – with David Bruchez-Lalli as soloist – will provide the traditional Brassweek-Party.
In good weather, the big final concert with all participants and tutors takes place outside on Friday evening and Saturday morning. The bonus concert on Saturday afternoon, 8th July in Bever will feature David Thornton (Euphonium), Frits Damrow (Trumpet) and Simone Vebber (Organ).
In the late afternoon, the delegates of the Brassweek will also perform. From Tuesday to Thursday, soloconcerts take place in the church and in the village hall. Afterwards, various ensembles will be heard on the village square.
The Brassweek not only attracts musicians to the Engadin valley, it also offers locals and guests daily brass enjoyment in various restaurants or outside. In addition to the organized concerts, spontaneous treats are also offered.
