Cory Band, will extend their global appeal in the coming weeks with their visit to perform 6 concerts in South Korea.

The World's number one band is no stranger to overseas tours and having performed in Australia and USA twice in the last decade under Philip Harper this will be the band's first ever visit to Asia and for the people of South Korea a first visit from a British Brass Band.

Cory depart for their week long trip on Saturday 6th August and after travelling for over 24 hours from their base in South Wales they will arrive on the beautiful island of Jeju where they will perform 4 concerts as part of the Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival. Cory bring their unique style to the festival and perform across the island, exchanging the Welsh Valley mountains for volcanic mountains for 5 days.

After their time on Jeju they will travel back to the capital, Seoul, where they will perform twice, including an exciting collaboration with the Korean based Artenium Brass Band and their Musical Director Sung-Hyun Yoon. In addition six of Cory's soloists will perform a standalone concert bringing a varied repertoire.

Neil Blockley from Cory commented "We originally agreed to perform in Jeju 2020 thanks to the invite of their artistic director at the time and fellow Besson artist Steven Mead. We are really grateful that the invitation has remained open despite the turbulent two years that we have all faced. Making arrangements for a tour and commitment such as this is massive undertaking at the best of times, but the ongoing global impact of Covid still provides massive uncertainty but the ambitions of both organisers in Korea should be applauded and we very much look forward to entertaining the audiences there."

In addition to the support Cory has received from the organisers in making this tour a reality, several key sponsors closer to home will also be featured on the tour. The band would like to thank and recognise Cardiff based Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Celtic English Academy who are headline tour sponsorships.

Yen Curran, Head of Digital & Brand RWCMD commented “We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the Cory Band on their very first trip to South Korea. It’s amazing to think that many more people will get the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful talents of the band. We wish them the very best of luck”

We also welcome Celtic English Academy who partner with us for the first time for this tour. They also have a global reach and prior to the pandemic welcomed over 1000 students from 50 countries in one year to learn English from their base in Cardiff enabling the students to continue on their chosen path with the benefit of the English language.

In addition our ongoing partnerships continue with both World of Sound (and we are delighted that agreement has been gained for some concerts to be featured in due course on wobplay.com) and Wright & Round Music Publishers whose music will be featured extensively on the tour.

We would like to thank all our partners who are joining us for this special tour and as always recognise the commitment and ongoing support from Besson Musical Instruments who actively support and feature in all our activity both home and abroad.

Philip Harper commented "I am thrilled to be taking the band to this part of the World for the very first time. Although this is my first visit to South Korea, East Asia is very special to me having previously lived in Japan and to visit this part of the world with Cory has been an aspiration of mine since I came to the band 10 years ago. Being on tour with the band, as we've seen previously, is a very special times for the players and myself to have unique experiences and also the privilege to perform for new audiences. I've been delighted to work with the organisers at Jeju and Artenium Brass Band in the planning of these concerts and can't wait for the band finally to be on stage over there and get the audience reaction."
