Haverhill-270922

As Haverhill Silver Band prepare for their first ever appearance at the Top Section National Finals next month, there are three changes in personnel since the area, with Trevor Foster (horn) and Graham Patterson (Bb bass) joining the band and David Aves moving from horn to baritone.

Having started to play in 1957 and taught by his father, Trevor is a real veteran and stalwart in the banding world known especially for his time with Aveley which is where he hails from, and other London bands such as Newham, Medway and Beacontree. He has played previously in many Albert Hall finals and has depped with bands such as Grimethorpe, Hammonds, Yorkshire Imps and YBS. He has also performed in TV and radio broadcasts and appeared in a 17 night gig at the National Theatre with the London production of Brassed Off!

Graham began playing euphonium at an early age and moved to Eb bass in his late 20’s. Since then he has played with various top section bands including Enderby, GUS and Redbridge on Eb and Bb bass. This gave Graham the opportunity to play at the national finals and the Open on a number of occasions.

Musical Director Paul Filby says that ”having experienced players like Trevor and Graham is a great boost for the band ahead of it’s debut performance at the 2022 National Finals. However, they are not only experienced but also enthusiastic and provide us with more depth of strength in key positions. I would also like to mention David Aves who has recently moved from horn to baritone and has proved to be a real asset to the band”.
