9th Innerleithen Youth Brass Band Contest 2022

The Innerleithen Youth Brass Band contest made a return for the first time in three years on Saturday (1 October). Held at St. Ronan’s School, there was an entry of six bands from across the Borders and the Lothians. The adjudicator was Glasgow-based conductor, player and arranger, Gareth Bowman. The aim of the day was to promote music in a fun and supportive environment and Gareth provided excellent feedback to all bands following the performances. Gareth placed Maroon Brass first in the preparatory section, Galashiels Youth first in the Novice Section and Whitburn Youth first in the Development Section.

“It was a brilliant morning of music from all of these young players and we were pleased to welcome all of these youth bands to Innerleithen,” said organiser Rebecca Lindsay. “The quality of the music was excellent and it was great to see so many people come out to support the youngsters,” she added.
