Open2022-020922

On September 10th the doors of Symphony Hall will open and those who have made the journey to Birmingham will be looking forward to hearing 18 of the very best bands performing Edward Gregson’s ‘The World Rejoicing’

The piece was supposed to receive it’s premiere at the contest in 2020, but with the 2020 and 2021 contests being cancelled it will get it’s first UK run out following performances at the Dutch and Swiss National Championships.

For those that were not lucky enough to get hold of a ticket the event is being live streamed by WobPlay and 4BR, so no one needs to miss what promises to be a very tight contest.

Cory must go into the contest as the band to beat, winning the Open 3 times in the last 4 contests, but there will be a number of high-class bands looking to impress the adjudicators at the 168th Open contest.

Other names that jump off the list of bands are Tredegar who have had an outstanding few months with much talked about and admired performances at the Euros and at the Proms and Black Dyke, who will be looking to get back to winning ways. With 8 of the top 10 ranked brass bands in the world taking part we are going to hear some outstanding performances.

The British Bandsman will be attending and you can follow the days events on the website throughout the day. The contest starts at 10:30am
