Oxford Cherwell Brass is a Second Section band based in Kidlington, Oxford. The band was formed in 2013, and in 2014, OCB entered the London & Southern Counties Area Contest for the first time in the Third Section.
In 2017, OCB were awarded 2nd place at the L&SC Regional Contest, and a trip to the Third Section Finals in Cheltenham. Promotion to the Second Section followed at the end of 2018, after another strong third place performance at the Regionals.
A new chapter for the band began in Summer 2022, with Terry Brotherhood stepping down as MD. The band is immensely grateful to Terry for his vision, commitment and drive, and for leading OCB - the band he established - to success.
In October 2022, OCB appointed Danny Dullforce as their new Musical Director. Danny comes with a wealth of experience as a player and conductor with a number of well-known bands, particularly with the Wantage Silver Band organisation where he successfully took the newly formed B Band/Concert Brass from 4th Section to 1st Section. OCB is greatly looking forward to working with him in the coming months and years - particularly in contesting and building new performance repertoire.
We currently have vacancies for Bb and Eb bass players. We also have some opportunities for cornet players going forward – seats negotiable.
