Welcome return to The Galashiels Town Band for Russell Gray



The Galashiels Town Band were absolutely thrilled to welcome Russell Gray back to the band hall earlier this month and are indebted to Yamaha for the opportunity to have him work with our musicians. This was Russells 2nd visit to the band after having been guest soloist with the band back in 2015

Russell this time met with members from both our senior and youth bands, taking us through his Messanoic method which focuses on sound, intonation, dynamic control, and many other fundamentals of ensemble playing. Music from Danish composer Frederick Schjelderup was also worked on during the session.

A huge thank you to Russell and Yamaha for delivering this session.

We look forward to putting these exercises into practise and hopefully one day soon welcoming Russell back to the band hall.
